Every 45 minutes, someone in Germany hears the diagnosis that changes everything: You have leukemia. Leukemia is sometimes known colloquially as "blood cancer" and is a malignant disease of the
hemopoetic system, which is based in the bone marrow. Unfortunately, only a third of all patients can find a donor within their own families. All other patients depend on the help of unrelated
donors.
The probability that the tissue characteristics of two people match ranges between 1:20,000 and far above 1:several millions. This is why everyone counts and should be registrated!
